Competition Successes

2007-2008

April 2008 saw the club have further success in winning the popular SLF digital
'Vic Smith Trophy' competition in which most of the clubs in the Federation of South London Photographic Societies (SLF) took part.  In addition, member Mandy Byatt had her picture 'Dunnock' chosen as the best individual image in the competition.

This win was quite an achievement for Photocraft who were in competition with many larger clubs and continues our recent success in SLF and SPA inter club digital competitions.

The images making up the panel of fifteen were again decided by the votes of members at a club selection evening and a very varied (and in some instances unconventional) selection resulted.

SPA
Further Success for Photocraft.  In the keenly contested
Surrey Photographic Association (SPA) digital projection competition held in November 2007, Photocraft came second with its panel of ten images. A total of nineteen camera clubs from the Surrey area participated in this year's competition which was held at the SPA's AGM at West Molesey.

This was another excellent result for the club against strong competition and helps to vindicate our policy of allowing our members to decide upon the pictures that will represent the club in such events.

Vic Smith Digital Trophy: 2007

"A very rare frog": by Peter Draper
Highly Commended

SLF
Photocraft came third in the 2007
South London Federation Inter-club Vic Smith Digital Trophy competition, in which most camera clubs in this part of the country participate. This was a very good result for the club who were entering this competition for the first time and despite being in competition with many much larger clubs.

Member Peter Draper received maximum points and a judge selected his picture to receive one of only three ‘highly commended’ certificates out of the nearly two hundred images entered in the competition. For more of his frogs go to: Frogs

It is also worth noting that the choice of the fifteen images entered for this competition were made by the members themselves at a club night selection evening, at which all were invited to bring along images to be considered and voted upon.
